What You Should Know About Making Duvet Covers
Have you been playing around with the idea of making yourself a duvet cover? Then you are just the right person to read this article. You need to read the article right through to the end to benefit from its valuable tips.
There are a number of alternative ways to make duvet covers. My focus will be on just one specific one. Let me say this before you get all worked up – it is quite easy to create a duvet cover just as long as you follow all the laid our procedures. There is no need to stress about discount duvet covers or branded ones line king size duvet covers pottery barn kids
First thing first, you need to select the fabric you intend to use. make sure you have a take measure for measurements that is you will have to measure the length and the width. Knowing the best size that you will be using it on is important. For example, is it a queen, king, twin or single bed?
Now here is my advice. Two things, look for a washable material and (2) make sure it does offer some decorative appeal. light weight material is usually more appealing. While you are making those choices do not forget to think about the climatic conditions of your area.
Now you need to choose two lengths of fabric that should be about 54 inches wide. You can even make it a bit wider. This will be used on the front of the duvet cover. Be sure that the panels are the same size as the measurements of the length as mentioned earlier.
-Find home decorator fabrics. make these about fifty four inches wider. Chances are your duvet is wider. In this case simply buy another panel of fabric for each of the duvet sides.
-The next thing to consider is prints and patterns. You may need to do some variations based on the prints to use. For example, you may have to elongate your panels.
-The next step is to pre-wash and then iron the material.
-Once you have done that you then need to fold the front panel. Fold them to half lengths.
-In order to make sure the creases are sharp at the folds iron the fabric first. It will then be easy to continue once you’ve done that.
-Do this to the back panels as well.
-Draw a line that goes right down along the length of the panel where the crease is. Do this using a yard stick and also get yourself a fabric marking pen to do this with ease.
-Cut out each line to make six panels. i.e., three will be for the back and 3 for the front of the duvet cover.
-Now the next step on your project of making a duvet cover is to just pin one panel that’s narrow to one part of the front panel that is uncut. Make sure that is it is pinned such that all fabric edges are lined up & the sides of the fabric are also together.
These tips provided above should be enough for you to create your own duvet cover. The missing parts in this article are left out because the rest of the work from here on can be customized to suite your own individual taste.
